Saturday Academic Language Labs

Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary & Word Knowledge

A good fit for the student who says:
"I read it, but I don't know what it means."

For students who read words accurately but struggle to explain, summarize, identify important information, or understand increasingly complex text. For students who struggle to understand, learn, or use academic vocabulary, multiple-meaning words, morphology, and context clues.

Academic Language

A good fit for the student who says:
"But where does it say that?"

For students who struggle with the vocabulary, reasoning, sentence structures, and language needed to understand and communicate academic ideas.

Written Expression

A good fit for the student who says:
"I know what I want to say. I just don't know how to write it."

For students who have ideas but struggle to turn them into organized, complete, and precise writing.

Small Groups. Individualized Instruction.

Saturday Labs are intentionally kept small so that students have opportunities to participate, explain their thinking, practice new skills, and receive individualized clinician feedback.

The goal is not simply to get through a lesson.

The goal is for students to understand how language works- and become more capable of using it independently.

Structured Literacy for Struggling Readers

For students who struggle to read unfamiliar words accurately, fluently, or independently. Target phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, syllable patterns, morphology, sound-symbol relationships, and the word structures that support accurate reading and spelling.

For students who benefit from explicit, systematic instruction in the foundational skills that make reading and spelling more accurate, automatic, and efficient.
